3D modelling and printing

Work  ✺  Experiment  ✺  3D

I have been exploring 3D modelling with different software suites (Fusion 360, Rhino, Blender, SketchUp) to see the different approaches and capabilities. I print the models using a Prusa Mini 3D printer. Most of my projects are practical, like replacing broken plastic pieces to extend the life of product at home, or rigs and tools for my paper projects.

I printed a spacer for the foot rest of my chair, and tried adding a texture on it by converting the cylinder into a mesh–it's really interesting how much a simple texture can add to how it feels in your hand. To install the spacer I needed a mallet to dissemble the chair, so I printed a rubber mallet ”converter” for my hammer–terrible idea, the hammer is too light and the plastic gets damaged right away. I also printed a rubber seal replacement for my sink strainer, and it works good–take that Home Depot! (June-July 2024)
