Make Ink: A Forager’s Guide to Natural Inkmaking (Jason Logan)
This book is both inspiring and informative, covering foraging for natural dyes and pigments, recipes for making different colours, and testing and storing ink. It gave me a good perspective on how to get started with making ink, but also made me see it as both a form of art, and an exploration of the deep history of the relationship between ink, language, art, and the natural environment.
Early on in the book it offers advice: don't use pots and pans you want to use for cooking, and check-in with your housemates before stinking it up with old coffee... both pieces of advice I ignored and regretted.
